VIM diary

While learning the basics of Vim over the course of a few months I kept a simple diary. I recorded what I had been Googling for and what I'd learned during my struggles.
# September 2023
A month of tinkering.
Looking at my Browser History I can see I was very much attached to the idea of
needing strong JavaScript tooling, as it appears
vim-javascript was part of my
Googling around during the first week.
In that same week I found tpope's prolific offerings (although I had not done much in the way of installing or using any of them yet) and also Google'd how to page up/down.
By the second week I discovered an online tutorial I quite liked. I went through its exercises a few times in the evenings that followed. The second week was also when I learned about the passing of Bram. RIP.
This Online Book
I found useful for realising that there was a Vim Grammar, which seemed to
take some of the "daunt" out of all the memorisation I knew was ahead of me.
For the book itself, I spent most my time in these chapters:
Chapter 5. YOUR FIRST BABY STEPS IN VIM
Chapter 6. MOVING BLAZINGLY FAST WITH THE CORE VIM MOTIONS
Chapter 7. EDITING LIKE MAGIC WITH VIM OPERATORS
By now I had installed the VSCode Vim Extension on my personal computer and was making slow progress.
As the third week arrived I discovered Vim Snake - the game I would end up spending most of my practice time with for the next few weeks - along with Vim Genius, a site I would dip in and out of.
